Iaido Ranking
The development of trainees in Iaido, demonstrated through a series of levels classified, kyu - dan exam and become, according to official control procedures under the regulations of EOKIN.
The test requirements are presented below:
Iaido Tests
6 KYU - ROKKYU |
The examination is performed with bokken. There is no request for saya
. Theory Examination
- Name and show five parts of the sword
. Practical Examination
- Show stands KAMAE: JODAN (HIDARI & MIGI) – CHUDAN – GEDAN – HASSO – WAKI
- Show from standing position: horizontal NUKITSUKE, KIRI OTOSHI in 3 levels (head, diaphragm, belly)
- EMBU: SHOMEN NI REI - HAJIME NO TOREI - Ippon me Mae - OWARI NO TOREI - SHOMEN NI REI

5 KYU - GOKYU |
The examination is performed with bokken. There is no request for saya
. Theory Examination
- Name eight parts of the sword
- Demonstrate greeting to the sword upright
- Demonstrate delivery & receive of the sword of another
- Explanation of substance behind the greeting of the sword
. Practical Examination
- Show from standing position: horizontal NUKITSUKE, KIRI OTOSHI σε 3 επίπεδα (head, diaphragm, belly), KESA GIRI, ICHI MONJI GIRI, O CHIBURI, YOKO CHIBURI
- EMBU: SHOMEN NI REI - HAJIME NO TO REI - Three KATA (Ippon me Mae and another 2 by choise) - OWARI NO TO REI - SHOMEN NI REI

2 KYU - NIKYU |

Advanced Iaido Tests
1 DAN - SHODAN |
- Demonstrate proper appearance, dress and manners of reiho
- Demonstrate proper behavior of sword motion and perform the correct kata
- Execute with precision movements nukitsuke, kiritsuke, chiburi and noto
- Correct hasuji and datotsu, points cuts
- Control of body and movement
Speed and power are not necessarily

2 DAN - NIDAN |
- In addition to the requirements of Shodan, the existence of the necessary strength, speed and flow are considered during the execution of the movements of the sword

3 DAN - SANDAN |
- Ability to perform all the kata almost perfect technically (control body and sword, power, speed, flow, hasuji, cuts in the right places)
- Displaying the indispensability rate - kankyu, (slowly / quickly, calmly / dynamic, pauses) in the performance of kata
- Knowledge of all basic data on the position of virtual opponents - kasso teki, and proper distance - maai, knowledge derived from written sources and the teaching of his master test

- Demonstrate merihari (perception of the existence of virtual opponents, kasso tekki)
- Ability demonstration of "extension" of the spirit, kokoro, the movements of the sword when dealing with virtual opponents, kasso tekki
- Spiritual calm gaze / metsuke, kihaku (unequivocal determination to win)
- Harmonious union of: Ki (energy) - Ken (sword) - Tai (body), ki-ken-tai ichi
- A smooth, flowing and controlled motion
- Integrity in spirit, kokoro, and technical, waza

- Examine how the examinee battling against virtual opponents (kasso tekki). Comprehensive knowledge of relevant sources
- The technique should not be theatrical but performed under realistic conditions - is alive and present
- Observe if all natural movements (from the top of the head to the fingertips of feet) are "lively"
- Existence of grandeur and dignity "scent"
